MACRA's Quality Payment Program

macralandingrev6The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA), repealed the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate used in Medicare Billing and initiated the transformation of Medicare billing and reimbursement to a value based system.

This will result in significant programmatic changes as the health care system transitions from fee-for-service to a quality based reimbursement structure. AANP has our members covered with the news and tools they need to successfully navigate this transition.

2018 MACRA Proposed Rule

On June 20, 2017, CMS released the proposed rule for CY 2018 Updates to the Quality Payment Program under MACRA. CMS is accepting comments on this proposed rule until August 21, 2017, and any changes that are adopted will go into effect beginning in the 2018 performance period. Current rules governing the QPP can be found below under the header “2017 MACRA Final Rule” or by viewing the links provided on the AANP MACRA resources page. AANP is currently evaluating the proposed rule to assess the impact that the proposals would have on members, patients and the health care system. We will be sharing details in the coming weeks.
